Kathy is the Executive Director of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.clrp.org\/\">Connecticut Legal Rights Project<\/a> a statewide non-profit agency that provides legal services to low income individuals with mental health conditions, who reside in hospitals or the community, on matters related to their treatment, recovery, and civil rights. (CLRP) (<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.clrp.org\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">www.clrp.org<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">) a statewide non-profit agency that provides legal services to low income individuals with mental health conditions, who reside in hospitals or the community, on matters related to their treatment, recovery, and civil rights.\u00a0 Kathy spent 13 years as a Staff Attorney at Statewide Legal Services of CT, Inc., the centralized intake hotline for all the Connecticut legal services programs.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Kathy combines her personal experience as a recipient of mental health services and her legal background to speak to issues affecting those living with mental health conditions.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Kathy is currently a member of the Board of Directors of Lawyers Concerned for Lawyers-CT (the state\u2019s lawyer assistance program) <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.lclct.org\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">www.lclct.org<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> ; she is a member of the Advisory Board of the Connecticut Alliance to Benefit Law Enforcement (CABLE) (<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.cableweb.org\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">www.cableweb.org<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.)\u00a0 Kathy is the co-chair of the Keep the Promise Coalition (<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ctkeepthepromise.org\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">http:\/\/www.ctkeepthepromise.org\/<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">), a coalition of advocates (people living with mental health conditions, family members, mental health professionals and interested community members) with a vision of a state in which people with mental health conditions are able to live successfully in the community because they have access to housing and other community-based supports and services that are recovery oriented, person-driven and holistic in their approach to wellness. She is also a member of the steering committee of the Connecticut Cross Disability Lifespan Alliance (<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/bit.ly\/CCDLA\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">http:\/\/bit.ly\/CCDLA<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">), an alliance of people of all ages with all disabilities who pursue a unified agenda in support of building a great life in the community.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A graduate of Wellesley College and Harvard Law School, Kathy has dedicated her professional life to advocating for the rights of the underserved.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Kathy lives in her hometown of Newington with her husband, Jim Valentino, and their rescue dog Bella.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Kathy is on Twitter <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/ConnConnection\">@ConnConnection<\/a> and is on Instagram at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/reddevilsfan8332\/\">@reddevilsfan8332<\/a>.
